My friends received Green cards in 2007. They live abroad, but make regular trips tho the Us to visit family and maintain their GC.
Unfortunaltely, they recently misplaced their green cards. They are planning a trip to the US this month, for which they have received travel letters from the US Embassy abroad.
Would anyone know what the process is afterwords? We know they have to file I-90s to replace their lost GC. Does this have to be done at the port of entry? Or is it done at a local office on reaching their final US destination?
Also, will they be called for a biometric appointment locally or can that be done at a Port of Entry. Can the biometric be done at a location abroad?
If anyone has any info on this, it'd be truly appreciated.

On October 30, 2009, the USCIS announced that 53,800 of 65,000 regular cap petitions have been received. In addition, approximately 20,000 U.S. Master's or higher petitions (i.e. advanced degree petitions) have been received. Any advanced degree petitions received from here...
On October 30, 2009, the USCIS announced that 53,800 of 65,000 regular cap petitions have been received. In addition, approximately 20,000 U.S. Master's or higher petitions (i.e. advanced degree petitions) have been received. Any advanced degree petitions received from here on out will count toward the regular cap of 65,000. The USCIS is still accepting petitions at this time, but it is advised that any H-1B petitions be filed as soon as possible as the USCIS could announce that the cap is closed at any time.

Those who follow immigration politics closely know that the finding in a new America's Voice Bendixen poll of 1,100 Hispanic voters that more than 3/4 consider immigration to be a major issue for them is true. But for many anti-immigrant members of Congress, there's a case of wishful thinking going on - that Hispanic voters only consider immigration a minor issue and will vote on other issues instead. Can I apply for AP renewal now even if my current AP expires in mid Oct 2009 or should I wait until the expiration date is 90 or 120 days (like H1 renewal).
My EAD expired last year and I have not renewed it, so I should be good on that (I am working on H1) but had a question on AP.

I was laid off in Dec 2009, but severance will stop till early Feb. Now I found two potential jobs. Company A is a corporation in same state, but company B is a university in some other State.
1. How long will take them to transfer my H1B? does the different States matter on this transfer time? I want to make sure which one can submit the H1B transfer before my paycheck stops in Feb.
2. In order to apply for Green Card later, which job is better for Green Card application? I heard university will not help the staff (accountant) for Green Card application. Is that true?

Ajay K Arora from H1B1.com was a good lawyer for me. I was in KY at the time and had the luxury of choosing my own immigration lawyer. I did H1 + renewal, and RIR labor that got recently approved, but I am with a different company now, so can't use labor cert, and I have to put up with the company's law firm whose service is of course, awful.
He is located in NYC. The reason I chose him is someone else recommended him for me.

Future: Company B (Has filed for Transfer under Premium Processing as of May 6)
Currently employed with A. Company B lawyer has filed a transfer on May 6 Premium Process.(I believe current status is LCA is under process).
I plan to resign on May 21 with A and travel abroad to Dubai On May 22. Will be back on June3 to usa
