Dr. Mirza Tihir is a true angel to the refugees he serves in his town of Syracuse, New York. And he certainly can relate to their story as he too is a refugee. Dr. Tihic lost more than 60 relatives to the "ethnic cleansing" in Serbia in the 1990s including his grandfather. He is now program manager of entreprenuerial practice at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. Here's the link. Bad news in the family categories as much of the advancement of the last two years has been reversed with major retrogressions. The only good news was a ten month jump for Mexico EB-3 cases. Family 1st- 13 month retrogression for most countries to January 2005; six month advance for Dominican Republic to January 2005; one week advance for Mexico. System errors caused a number of Application Support Centers to be overscheduled during the week of July 6-10,
2009. As a result, some applicants may receive cancellation notices for appointments originally scheduled during this
timeframe.
If you do not receive a cancellation notice, please appear at your ASC appointment as scheduled. If you do receive a
cancellation notice, you will soon receive an ASC appointment notice for a new date and time, typically for an
appointment within the next two to four weeks.

I am a July' 07 I-485 filer and have received my EAD and AP.
I am currently on H1 and not using my EAD yet.
In my situation can I accept any contract work on 1099? This will be beside my full time work.
Do I have to switch to EAD from H1 to accept 1099 for contract work?

Hello,
Here is my situation.
Status : H1B Visa
GC Status : I-140 Approved in EB3
Priority Date : May 2004
Years on H1B: 9 years
H1B Expire date: 01/2012
Please advice if i can change my employer now or it will be too risky. I was hoping to accept new positions if new employer is willing to sponsor a h1b and green card from begining. So i can retain my previous PD.

As PERM processing becomes faster in recent months, icert problems continue though. DOL has reported that the incorrect error message that pops up upon entering a date for the prevailing wage source is the result of recent system edit. The glitch will not affect useability, i.e., users can bypass the error message and submit LCAs for processing. In addition, a fix is in development and will likely be in place today or tomorrow. Common recent problem is receiving an inappropriate system warning when entering the Prevailing Wage source. We hope these problem will be fixed soon as the PERM process becoming rather annoying. We will keep our readers posted.

I got an H1 from an employer with changes of status from L1 effective 31- jan but I will be joining this company only on 4-april-2011. I continued to work for L1 employer till
20-Feb after which i returned to India.

- GC - EB3, Oct 2003.
- Applied for 9th Year H1B in October. (H1B Visa expired in Oct)
- EAD and AP approved.
- Just got CRIS email of I140 & 485 denial notices (waiting for the USCIS letter for reasons).
- Previous company closed down and I had given Experience letter from a colleague, who is now on H4.
Questions?
1. Am I out of status already due to denial notices?
2. Will I get an H1B Extension?
3. If my lawyer decides to file an MTR, will I be allowed to work until my EAD/H1B is valid.

I filed my 485 in August 2008 with new fee structure (one time fee for AP and EAD renewals). Now my AP is expiring in November 2009. Can any one who applied for AP renewal under the one time fee structure let me know how do I make use of that fee. I mean.. Can i just skip sending the check for $305?
